Great Effect on Our Lives; Phase Protection Relay

Motor Phase Protection Relay is an electronic device. It is generally preferred more in 3-phase motors.

Phase Protection Relay is used to protect electric motors against possible negativities that may come from the network, such as sudden power cuts, over or under voltage, changing the order of the phases coming from the mains to the motor, and phase imbalance. It immediately detects the negativities and cuts the control voltage of the motor and prevents damage and malfunctions that may occur in electronic devices. Thus, it extends the service life of all your electronic devices with motors. In addition, it reduces the maintenance and repair costs of engines, minimizes downtime due to engine problems, and reduces the risks of fire and electric shock.

WHAT ARE THE TYPES?

1. Reactive Power Controller

  • It is an electronic device that performs the task of switching capacitors on and off in order to reach the automatically adjusted power coefficient.

2. Engine Protection Relay:

  • It prevents the motor from being damaged by cutting the power to the motor due to phase errors. Motor protection relays are activated in the following situations.
  • Lack of phase protection
  • Phase Sequence Protection
  • Asymmetry Protection
  • Fixed Asymmetry

3. Voltage Protection Relay:

  • These are relays that protect the system they are connected to against the negativities caused by the mains voltage and whose upper and lower voltage limits can be adjusted. The functions performed are as follows.
  • Lack of Phase Protection
  • Phase Sequence Protection
  • Adjustable Voltage Protection
  • Over and Under Voltage Protection

4. Residual Current Protection Relay:

  • The task of this relay is to cut the circuit when there is an error current caused by an insulation fault and prevent the system on the other side from being damaged.

5. Time Relays:

  • Relays whose contacts can change state after the coil is energized or the coil is de-energized.

6. Frequency Protection Relay:

  • Frequency protection zone protects the system to which it is connected against changes in the network frequency. If the frequency goes outside the desired limits, the system is deactivated at the end of the set delay time.
  • High Frequency Protection
  • Low Frequency Protection
  • Setting Limits
